Asia Society Japan is excited to welcome Hiraki Sawa, a London based artist, to our latest Art for Breakfast series. Originally from Ishikawa prefecture, Sawa received his BFA from the University of East London and his MFA from the Slade School of Art at University College London in 2003. He creates alternate perceptions of reality in both 2D and 3D formats, with his works encompassing drawings, videos, and large-scale installations.
Based in London for over 20 years, Sawa's artistic journey has seen a remarkable evolution from a student to a distinguished mid-career artist. Sawa will provide his unique perspective on the arts scene in London, and the way his experiences as a foreigner – a stranger - have helped mold his creative process. This is a rare opportunity to gain an insight into the mind of an innovative artist who has successfully merged his Japanese heritage with his experiences in the dynamic and diverse art landscape of London.
Join us for this occasion to dive deeper into Hiraki Sawa's artistic vision and journey.
